Should you bring iced coffee to an interview?

Hello everyone!

I have been seeing the "Iced Coffee" delima on my TikTok feed this past week and I would like to give my opinion on the matter.

From what I have seen the people are split into two groups. The "Don't bring coffee to a job interview" side, and the "What's the big deal" side. Personally, I am on the "don't do it" side; however I understand both perspectives.

Let's start with the "What's the big deal" side. Bringing iced coffee is a small thing in many people's eyes. I mean, it's coffee. It shouldn't be a factor in whether or not a person is qualified for a job. A lot of people in my generation (Gen Z) are tired of the small rules and etiquette that takes place in work environments. They think that those social rules are not necessary or relevant to their work performance. Another factor is that there is bigger fish to fry than iced coffee. The unemployment rates for college graduates, the rate of inflation is rising higher than income, and how it takes so long to even get an interview in the first place.

Now, here is why I'm on the "don't bring iced coffee" side. I think of job interviews as auditions (I was a theater kid, can you tell?). When you show up to an audition, you have to play a part and be prepared. When I go to job interviews, I play the part of whatever role I want to be hired for. If it's customer service, I will be the happiest and chattiest person ever. If it's a corporate job, I will be level-headed and analytical. If you show up with an iced coffee (or really any drink), that sends a message that you are very casual. It doesn't matter how qualified you are, if you are sipping a drink then it feels like you don't care too much about the job. You aren't playing the role they are casting for.

I don't bring anything to an interview aside from my phone and wallet (and also my vape in my pocket, but they don't know that). I want to be 100% focused on answering the questions and looking like someone they want to hire. The job market is tough right now, wouldn't you want to do everything you can to get a job?

Anyways, that's my opinion on the matter. I won't go out of my way to judge anyone that brings iced coffee to a job interview. I am all for doing what you want.

Here's a question for y'all, what is your coffee order?

Why are all my favorite movies so problematic??

As I was adding my top four into my blog, I noticed that three of them had actors that are seriously problematic. Shia Labeouf, Kevin Spacey, Ansel Elgort, and Armie Hammer.
Shia Labeouf is a known abuser and last I heard was reeking havoc on New Orleans. Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual assault (I always believe the victims, don't worry). Ansel Elgort also was accused of sexual assault (I will write later about how men can't keep their hands to themselves). Then there is Armie Hammer. Boy oh boy was I SHOCKED when I heard he is an alleged cannibal. I was then less shocked when he was accused of sexual and physical abuse. Seriously what is up with men??

Let me say that I in NO way support or even like these actors. Men once again ruined some of my favorite things.

Why don't I just change my top four you ask? Because I am not letting some fuck ass men ruin beautiful stories for me.

Call me by your name has had me in a chokehold since 2020. The cinematography, score, and plot is just so good. Peanut Butter Falcon is also such a beautiful story about two men just having fun and not letting the world get to them. Baby Driver is just so damn cool. The way the set correlates with the music in the beginning is my favorite scene ever. It's a love story, music video, action movie, and Fast and Furious all stuffed into one movie. It's awesome!

What isn't awesome is that the lead actors in these movies are all awful people. I try my best to separate the actors from their characters, but when it's infiltrating all my favorite movies it makes me feel like a bad person for liking them.

Of course I like other movies, but these hold my heart so strongly that I can't let go. I hate men. I hate them because they did awful things to women and destroyed my favorite movies in the process.

I would like to thank Hayao Miyazaki for being a wonderful man and not casting men that suck.

Decorating my house!

Hello everyone! I get endless compliments on my house, so I want to share my tips and tricks to decorating! Start with a complete blank slate. Only a bed in the room, the furniture will come later.

Side note: If you can't remove any furniture, don't worry! You can work around it and focus on wall art.

First, I worked on my ceiling. Personally, I hate an empty ceiling. To help add some flair, I used different fabrics to drape along the ceiling. You can use long scarfs or recycled fabric! I went to Michaels and got eight yards of four different fabrics. Then I cut them down the middle vertically so I could use the same fabric on different sides. (This is why no furniture makes you life easier) Start with hanging the four different fabrics from the four corners of your room with it ending at the center of the room. I have a chandelier in the center so I made sure the fabric bunched at the base of the chandelier. Once you are done with the corners, start filling in! This is what it looked like when I was done.

Next is wall art! Here is a fantastic tip that will save you LOADS of money on posters; Shein sells posters for $1. Yep, you read that right. One whole dollar. I bought 25 different posters for only $30. I filled my whole wall with posters. You can also get framed art from Marshals or antique stores. Below is my living room wall with framed art I got from Marshals.

Lighting is very important. I loathe overhead lighting, it casts shadows that doesn't make anything look good. A candle warmer is a perfect light for your bedside table, and it makes your room smell good! Again, Marshalls sells flower candle warmers that are so cute. Also, I am obsessed with Turkish lamps. I found one on Amazon for $60, it adds so much character to your space.
Another way to add light are (obviously) lamps! I went to a local antique store and bought this beautiful 70's lamp. It adds great light and is unique.

Get creative with it! Try to find pieces that you love and incorporate them into your space. Antique stores are a godsend for unique furniture and knick-knacks.
I hope this helps give you some inspiration ♥︎

I hate being an Oklahoman

Hi everyone. So as most of you should know the election was last night and Oklahoma was one of the few states that stayed completely red. I ...
